handus: The Handi for US

Handus: The Handi for US. (Handi Slang for device like cell phone )
The Idea:

  • Cordless phones are really cheap.
  • 802.11b access point are now common.
  • 802.11b took off because of cheap cards
  • Had a moderate cost for inital setup and only costs administration and power to keep running.
  • Handus phones should be cheap. less than 50 USD.
  • Handus phones should be able to run a long time.
  • Should have a moderate inital setup and only cost administration and power to keep running.
  • Base stations should be a PCMCIA card to go into a laptop or desktop.
  • The base station card should cost between 100-200 dollars intitally.
  • Keep the smarts at the base station
  • The phones should have 2 IPV6 Addresses. One for itself. One for its default basestation.
  • The base station would convert voice to VOIP. As either a client to a remote phone switch or to itself.
